Room was boiling hot. We booked 2 nights and walked out after 10 minutes as was too hot. Air con was terrible and no other rooms available and we didn’t even get offered a refund. So waste of £239

Beautiful room
Beautiful twin bedded room. Very comfortable beds, air con a great benefit in this hot weather.
Couch in the room makes it very comfortable.
An added bonus is the milk and water station on each floor so you can actually have fresh milk with drinks.
Car park also available
Breakfast was disappointing compared to previous experience.
it is all help yourself and no service except for if you order special breakfast. The buffet breakfast didn't look very appealing
I had eggs Benedict which was nice but skimpy on the ham. Breakfast finishes at 9.30 which appears to be geared to the business traveller rather than leisure.

Good room, well appointed, helpful staff. Lots of parking. Spa looked very nice, worth knowing there is an extra charge unless you book direct with the hotel.
Location is a good walk from the twon along a fast road with very narrow paths.

Just a few small things needed attention. The tap in the bath dripped all night. Had to put a towel in the bath to dull the sound.

Limited menu in the restaurant and expensive for what you get. Service was average. Don’t like that people are effectively walking through the restaurant with luggage.

My wife walked into the bedroom curtain was drawn . My keep walking what she was the curtain
We wasn’t aware the room was on two leaves. She step forward and drop down a lever where she feel on top of a table . If this was glass she would have been in a bad way. The bedroom curtains were drawn with a little light
We feel this was an unsafe practice and a health and safety risk to others . This must have happened to other customers using the hotel . We have made a complaint to the hotel however they have not come back to us

Smart, well located convenient location, with a sylish restaurant and excellent parking space
Room excellent. We ate in the restaurant on one night and it was excellent> Excellent service, v good menu and v good quality food. Excellent car parking facilities. Warm and comfortable - our 'go to' hotel when we are in the area.
It's a shame that pigeons tend to roost above the covered entrance to the Hotel, resulting in droppings of course. The hotel is aware of this and attempting to resolve/cure the problem and in the mean time, they are cleaning the walk way frequently, and it would not stop me from staying there again - it's just a pity.

Dated, Poor rooms and terrible food.
Stayed here for a work trip. £358 a night for two rooms that were a poor state. Bathroom with chipped tiles, soap dishes screwed to the wall and then glue over it. Very loud plumbing in the room when shower was on or toilet flushed. Ordered room service (Pizza) which was terrible. Breakfast pretty much the same. Wasn't offer any tea or coffee nor shown where it was. I raised a complaint via email, no one got back to me in a timely manor. Was passed between staff and Paul got back to me in the end, offered to refund the pizza and give me 25% off next stay. Why would have any interest in staying there again!!!!!

Disappointed
This is an informative review for future guests. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout our stay. From the outside, the building is beautiful and has plenty of character.
We had originally booked a standard room but were upgraded to a Signature Room. While the upgrade was appreciated, the room itself was very dated and did not meet our expectations for the price paid. The shower over the bath leaked continuously into the tub throughout the night, the cold water indicator on the sink tap was missing and the fitting appeared rusty, the bedside lamp switch was broken, and the table in the bedroom was not clean.
On a positive note, the bed was very clean and comfortable, and the towels were fresh and spotless. As we were only staying for one night, we didn’t feel it was worth raising these issues during our stay.
Breakfast offered a sufficient selection, but the dining area was very chaotic. Most tables were covered with used plates and leftover food, making it difficult to tell which tables were available. We eventually approached a member of the breakfast staff, who was friendly and promptly cleared and sanitised a table for us.
Overall, while the staff and service were excellent, the condition of the room and the breakfast experience were disappointing. Unfortunately, based on the accommodation and value for money, it is not somewhere we would choose to stay again.

Good but the reception staff ruined/tainted it
We got married at cottons 8 years ago and we love coming back here. We love the hotel it is modern and clean and the bar staff are always amazing.
The staff on reception have been rude every time we have attended, including our wedding. We attended on 28th June for a wedding at Colshaw Hall. We arrived at 1pm and were told that check in is at 3, no exceptions. We said this was fine and returned at 3.30 after the ceremony. One room was ready and they said one would be 5 minutes. 25 minutes later we asked again if the room was ready to be told it wasn’t and there was nothing they could do. The women behind reception didn’t even smile. They shrugged at us when we said we expected a room to be ready at check in time. I said check in is at 3 and she said ‘check in is FROM 3’…I had to advise her this means the same thing. It was 4pm by the time we got the room and there was no apology. She said ‘that’s how housekeeping works’ and it wasn’t their fault. Honestly it is very disappointing because it’s been this exact issue every time. The reception staff are what I can only describe as miserable and rude and sadly it stops us and lots of friends of ours from wanting to come back. This is very sad for us because we want to return to our wedding venue but have issues every time. Maybe the reception staff would benefit from some customer service training.

Very big room with table to work from and settee to relax if wanted. it was great facilities but the bathroom was dripping water constantly and looked like bad stain on the bath with hair before use.

Perfect hotel for my buisness stay
Visited for a short work trip with other colleagues and pleasantly surprised with a very friendly and helpful welcome. The evening meals that our group had were very good and tasty, room was good with AC and a choice of pillows.
Breakfast was fine although they could have cooked the sausages and bacon more -i wasn't the only one who thought that. Otherwise a good stay.

Carol was utterly fabulous from start to finish, she gave me a full body massage working carefully to relieve knots and stress. The whole experience was perfect , the products smelt amazing and Carol used essential oils throughout which made me feel so relaxed. ???? recommend , the best massage I’ve had!

Nice hotel, but gym/pool comes at a cost
In general nice hotel, friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable, with decent touches such as premium toiletries, coffee, robe etc. breakfast was ok but too steamed and so lacked colour and texture.
Biggest disappointment is the additional cost for the gym/spa. £15 is expensive compared to more extensive facilities at say village hotels where it is £5 and many other hotels where the facilities are inclusive.
Quite an expensive amount which for business travellers with limited leisure time who just want a quick hour, doesn’t justify the benefit we would receive.
So realistically you’re generally paying a higher room price than a premier inn/holiday inn for better soap and coffee in your room

Anniversary Trip
Had booked for our Wedding Anniversary, great check in... nice & easy.. we got up to our room and lovely we had a small tray with beautiful message, however with weather being so warm wanted a windows opening but couldn't open..Mo from reception came up to try it but no luck, bless him found us another room which sure was an upgrade, everything perfect.

We loved our stay in a very comfortable, well appointed room. Great location.
We liked the spa like bathroom with a lovely deep bath and heated towel rails. Also the large corner sofa in the seating area and comfortable beds. Generous provisions of tea and coffee with carafes of fresh milk made available was a very nice touch. We had a very busy weekend with friends so didn’t have a chance to use the amenities or the restaurant but I’ve heard great things about both. The restaurant seemed to be very popular. Will have to come back.
Our room wasn’t serviced during our two night stay. I don’t know if it was an oversight or if we were supposed to request it. Several items such as the robes, toiletries had little notes indicating that they could be purchased to take home. Perhaps this was just to dissuade guests from helping themselves.

Lovey location, very relaxing, lovely clean room and extremely comfortable bed, had a great night's sleep.
Spa treatments were amazing, had Amanda for both body massage and facial and she was wonderful, left me feeling relaxed and envigorated.
Overall the hotel is lovely the only thing that let it down was the drinks service in the restaurant. We ordered a bottle of prosecco at lunchtime and had to ask for it 3 times and once again at dinner we ordered a bottle of red, we received our meal before the drink and had to ask for it twice. Not a complaint just a little room for improvement.
The food was lovely at Breakfast, lunch and dinner. All in all it was a lovely , relaxed break and would recommend.

Total relaxation
This was a long awaited spa weekend with my best friend. The room (we had a complimentary upgrade) was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower was especially lovely and the bed comfortable. Despite being under the flight path from Manchester airport and on a busy road the room was quiet and the air conditioning was very welcome with the warm weather.
We had breakfast, lunch & dinner and the food was excellent. My only complaint was the drinks service in the restaurant was terrible, we had to chase our drinks order on both occasions and in the case of our evening meal, the food arrived before our wine !
The spa was excellent, we had a 50 minute massage and a 50 minute facial. The free gift with the facial was a lovely surprise. Lisa, who did my facial was especially skilled and my skin feels amazing !
All in all a lovely weekend.

Ritual Spa Day
Excellent treatment with Carol, very knowledgable about sports massage and sorted my ‘bubble wrap’ back out! Also gave me an eye mask and some reflexology, which made the treatment feel much longer than 50 minutes. I would request her by name next time.
Use of the facilities was also excellent, not too busy and the weather made the outdoor jacuzzi even better.
Our only feedback would be the very slow service in the restaurant but there was a wedding going on, so we’ll forgive them!

Location is perfect for a nice chilled weekend but I think if you're staying at the hotel access to the swimming pool and gym should be automatic. The breakfast was excellent.

Everything we wanted and very enjoyable
I organised a business meeting for myself and my colleagues. Making the arrangements was very easy - Amber was very responsive and very helpful. The hotel was in a great location for us all travelling from different places. The facilities were exactly what we needed and the food and refreshments were lovely. We are likely to be using the hotel for our future meetings as we were very happy.

Disappointing and sub-standard.
Great news on arrival - I got an upgrade! Food was good ( eventually)
My upgraded room (suite) was lovely but the toilet bowl still had urine stand from the previous guest (housekeeping came and cleaned it but no apology). There was no milk, no drinking water, no sugar, and the coffee bag sachet had already been opened so I couldn’t use it. Nice bottle of wine in the fridge but no wine glasses - just two plastic water glasses in the toilet. In the bar, the beer went off, I ordered fish cakes then was told they were off, I ordered duck then was told it was off (staff didn’t seem to know). The fire alarm went off at 00.20 so I didn’t sleep very well. On checkout the following morning, I told the reception staff about my complaints and gave them a list. I didn’t hang around and asked for my invoice to be emailed to me. I still haven’t had any response to my complaints nor received my invoice. The lack of response is what annoys me most (and the thought of those pee stains).

Our room had not been renovated so it was well worn but the shower pressure was great.
Fresh milk, capsule coffee and premium teabags were a pleasing extra.
Breakfast was definitely English rather than Continental (no cheeses or hams) but all the staff were welcoming and helpful.

Wow this hotel is absolutely fantastic ! The staff were beyond amazing and couldn’t do more to make our trip special. I mentioned it was my partners birthday and they made him a dessert board for the room. Honestly fantastic , the rooms were super clean and comfortable. Amazing value for money we already can’t wait to come back. Also the brownies were 1000000/10 never tasted a brownie so good in my whole life.
