Holiday Travel
We had a great time and really enjoyed the Edition. The people at the front are extremely accommodating, Montserrat and Macarena are very helpful. At the beach area Oscar and Pablo are great and Paco is the best of the best. I would ask for Paco’s area specifically. He went above on beyond the make us feel at home and is just a great human.
Only issue we had was with hot water in the shower which they fixed pretty quickly.
We would definitely go back!

Amazing experience at the EDITON - Outstanding staff and guest experience!
We went to The EDITION the first week of December to celebrate our babymoon and had the most amazing time. The resort was very clean and the landscaping was beautiful. The staff and guest experience was what stood out to us the most. We were welcomed with chocolate covered strawberries in our room and from each day on were treated to little surprises. We spent a day at the cabana on the pier and the staff surprised us with a special babymoon celebration (sparklers and all!) with a delicious dessert. We also loved the "fake oysters" we had at the pool. The mocktails were so yummy and the food we ate everywhere was amazing. We enjoyed visiting the nearby resorts for dinner as well and found it nice that the EDITION provided us with a complimentary golfcart ride to dinner.

Disappointing in many ways
Currently staying here and have been underwhelmed . Concierge is clueless, they have not done a great job with my wife’s allergies at the restaurants, and the main pool is ice cold. So they are allowing families to use the adult pool and there are not enough chairs. I have never stayed at a high end resort that doesn’t have a heated pool. No clue of its broken or doesn't exist, cant get a straight answer. Housekeeping also showed up so late after multiple requests
The room and resort are gorgeous but for the price im paying, the service has been comically bad.
Quite possibly the worst concierge staff I have ever dealt with. I just decided to do everything myself

Vacation Trip
The hotel is located approximately 40 minutes from the airport and sits within a shared compound alongside two other properties—the St. Regis and Auberge. A convenient golf cart system makes it easy to travel between the three resorts. While the hotel feels somewhat isolated from outside surrounding areas, the hotel itself is exceptional, with impeccably maintained grounds. Staff members are constantly visible and consistently maintaining the grounds.
Guest rooms are spread across three separate buildings, though none offers an advantage over the others. Service throughout the resort is exceptional. At both pools, attendants regularly checked in to see if we needed anything—fresh towels, ice, water—and even repositioned umbrellas to provide additional shade as needed. Everyone we interacted with consistently went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable.
The gym and spa are both beautiful and very well maintained. While high pricing is expected at this type of resort, the spa services were still notably expensive, with massages exceeding $400 USD including gratuity. The gym is complimentary for guests and accessible 24 hours a day using your room key.
The restaurants throughout the compound offer a variety of dining options, all of which allow charges to be applied directly to your room. While each venue provides a high-end experience, pricing across the restaurants is fairly consistent on the expensive side.

Brian at So’ol!
We had a wonderful dinner at the So’ol Edition with our friends while visiting Riviera Maya the whole seabass was excellent as well as the short rib. Brian was our server and was super attentive to us from all of the salts that he offered us on our margaritas to the local Mexican wine suggestions that he gave us. I would highly recommend coming here if you’re in Riviera Maya!

Great, last minute family, holiday!
Marco was an excellent waiter and cabana attendant! Highly recommend! The NYE festivities were also lovely- delicious buffet at So'ol and a fun beach party afterwards! Festive season schedule is nice for adults and kids. Maybe more for adults outside the holidays, but perfect for all now.

Fantastic family resort!

Unmatched Service — The Edition Riviera Maya Sets the Bar
I’ve stayed at some of the most famous luxury hotels in the world and none of them came close to the service at The Edition Riviera Maya. The people here truly care. The pool and beach staff went above and beyond every day — explaining drinks, securing the best spots, and treating us with genuine warmth. Even housekeeping was exceptional, cleaning the room thoughtfully while we were still getting ready and always responding quickly whenever we needed anything.
On the one occasion something was missed, the Director of Bars personally made it right with a beautiful Chablis — the kind of sincere accountability you rarely see in hospitality anymore.
The restaurant Kiis made my girlfriend’s birthday unforgettable — from carrying in hundreds of roses to singing and celebrating with us like family. It was a moment we’ll remember forever.
Special thanks to Fernando, Eros, and Jiavani and please extend my appreciation to the Director of Bars as well. The Chablis was perfect.
This hotel doesn’t just offer luxury — it offers heart. We will absolutely be back.

We had an amazing experience at the Edition, in large part due to the incredible Edition Team. They were truly top notch and went out of their way to make our stay special. As an example, when it rained one day, they re-arranged a table and chairs to find us space in the So’ol restaurant. Our server Miguel (Tocayo) had great food and drink recommendations and kept us happy while we waited for the rain to subside. This is just one instance of the remarkable dedication and support from the Edition. A beautiful hotel, but an even better staff who will make your experience distinctive and unique

5 star absolute amazing Christmas vacation
Absolute amazing experience from the time we arrived. I spend about a 100 days a year for the last decade in a hotel and I would have to say this was a top 3 all time experience. Besides the property being beautiful the thoughtfulness of the food and beverage program was honestly top tier. Even when properties boast about their restaurants, they usually fall flat. Complete opposite here! Ki’is the signature restaurant would be a top 10 restaurant in nyc. Believe me I know I dine monthly there. Also an amazing experience from ismial who was a server in the lobby bar and the F&B director Emanuel was somehow everywhere on property making sure guests were attended too (although not necessary since every staff member was top notch) he even sent a dessert to our room when he heard my girlfriend was a dessert fan. Also to note she has a nut allergy and everyone on property relayed the message so when we sat down they already knew and lets us know. Top tier all the way we can’t wait to go back!

Great way to start our stay!

Our family dined at So’ol Beach Club for dinner. We really enjoyed our time, especially because of Marco, our server. He was wonderful and very accommodating to our big, loud family! A Modern Mayan Retreat
My stay at the Riviera Maya Edition was nothing short of amazing. The rooms were sleek, modern, and incredibly comfortable and the service was amazing. As we stayed in one of the villas, we had our own personal attendant who was able to take care of our every need from dining reservations to airport transfers.
I do have a few notes: everything is ridiculously overpriced (especially the food, spa treatments, and excursions). I’ve actually never seen such egregious price gouging at a resort before for food and services. And for how expensive the food is, it could definitely be a little better.
Overall, I would definitely go back, but I hope they adjust the pricing to align more closely with industry standards.

The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and incredibly quiet. You could really feel the attention to detail, especially when it came to cleanliness and comfort. One evening, we accidentally let the door close without fully latching, and shortly after received a call from guest services letting us know security had noticed and wanted to be sure everything was okay. That moment really stood out—it made us feel well cared for and completely safe.
Dining at the SO’OL Beach Club was another highlight. We enjoyed both lunch and dinner there, and the service from Bartolo, Marco, and Brian was exceptional. They were attentive without being intrusive and made each meal feel relaxed, personal, and special.
The SPA was my favorite. Again cleanliness was impeccable and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed. I got the Edition Signature Massage 90 mins it was heaven. Exactly the pressure I asked for with focus on my neck to release tension. I walked out feeling like a new woman!

Possibly the most beautiful property we've ever visited - just gorgeous. Everyone on staff was aiming to please - "no" is not in their collective vocabulary. I would note that So'ol pool was amazing, the bar and wait staff (including Brian, Carlos, Manuel and Marcos) could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Rooms are beautiful, the hotel is spotless. A slice of heaven. Would return in a heartbeat.

Wonderful food and service at SO’OL !!!!
We had dinner tonight at So’ol in Kanai at the Riviera Maya Resort and the food and service were impeccable! Our waiter, Miguel and the rest of the staff were so wonderful and accommodation. I could not recommend this restaurant more to anyone traveling to this destination. We will be going back for the breakfast tomorrow and very much looking forward to the views and vibe again!

Week Long Stay At the Edition
I had an incredible time at this gorgeous property, my family and I stayed there for a week, it's not cheap but worth every dollar. Loved our room, it was very clean / overall property was very clean and safe, the beach was pristine, excellent service and quality food. I took my kids there for their birthdays and the property took special care to ensure they had a great time and that our room had bday surprises for them. Edgardo and team were amazing overall and I highly recommend to stay here if ever you're considering one of the Kanai properties. Can't wait for our next visit!

Amazing time at Edition Riviera Maya/SOOL
Having the most amazing time at Sool with Miguel Suarez! He provided exceptionally attentive service and made fantastic recommendations—especially the oysters. He even introduced a creative twist: a “fake oyster” Jell-O shot made with mezcal, which was absolutely delicious. Instead of eating a real oyster, it was a fun and flavorful Jell-O shot experience. The menu is delicious and offers so many healthy options. So far, this hotel is a solid 10/10 for service, location, and overall customer experience.

One of the Best Hotel Experiences of My Life
This was sincerely one of the best hotel experiences of my life. The property is absolutely stunning, with beautiful pools and an incredible level of attention to detail throughout. Every space feels thoughtfully curated and special. The food was sensational, especially breakfast, which offered a huge variety at a very high quality. I have severe food allergies and have never felt more cared for. The staff knew about my allergies before I even had to mention them, which created an immediate sense of calm. The higher end restaurant KI’IS served me one of the best meals I have ever had. Most of all, the staff were exceptional. Everyone was kind, warm, and attentive. Special thanks to David at the beach and Paco, who went out of their way to make my birthday trip truly memorable. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Great couples getaway
We came in December for a quick getaway. The resort is private, has great views of water, greenery, and more. The staff is AMAZING. Perfect Babymoon
Staying at the EDITION was a truly spectacular experience, especially for our babymoon. The staff was extraordinarily attentive, the food was pristine, and the time spent at the beach and pools were very special. I did the tequila tasting with Izzy, which is a MUST. Ask about the special Mezcal drink. Ivan and Rafael took amazing care of us by the pool and attended to my pregnant wife’s every need. Will return as a couple or with a little one!

One of a kind get away
Well, this was our 4th time staying at this beautiful and breathtaking resort that every time I go there, I am in awe of how they have even managed to build such a beautiful place. the staff were all amazing and they all go out of their way to make sure you are pampered. I highly suggest this resort for all who love to get away for some relaxation and away from it all. We did not even leave the resort, and the spa was fantastic as well.

A disappointing experience and service, overpriced and subpar compared to other top destinations.
We spent 8 days at the Edition in Kanai. Despite the beautiful facilities, we had several issues throughout the week. I do not recommend this hotel for families with children as it seems to be targeted towards singles who want to party.
Pros:
1) The hotel has a new, beautiful building, well integrated with the natural landscape. The pools are generous and there is a complimentary beach service where you can get towels, umbrellas, etc. You can also order food from there, although it is quite pricey (e.g., a fruit bowl is $25 USD)
2) The service at the Kitchen was exceptional, driven by Nazarilla's team. We went there for breakfast every morning and they were able to accommodate our custom dietary needs with ease. The quality of the food was consistently good, although they don't have too many options that we typically find in other resorts (e.g., waffles).
Cons:
1) Our dinner reservations were mixed up by the hotel staff, and we ended up spending Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant in Playa del Carmen, because they informed me a day before that our reservation was not confirmed, giving me little option.
2) The AC system in our room was broken for the entire duration of our stay. We complained about this multiple times, but our requests were ignored, with us being blamed for opening the balcony door too much. What's the point of having a balcony? In short, this was never fixed and we ended up waking up in the middle of the night because of the high temperature.
3) The hotel allows guests to smoke in the hotel's facilities and near the pool areas. We had an incident with other guests smoking cigars in a cabana, close to where my daughter was playing. The staff indicated that they could do nothing about it and asked me to find another place in the hotel if that bothered me. After escalating this with the hotel manager, these guests were asked to leave the cabana and stop smoking.
4) There is constant techno music at the beach (very loud, you can't hear the waves of the ocean). I found this annoying, as when you are in front of the ocean at 8am and you just want to relax or read a book. After asking about this, the manager told me that this hotel is not meant for relaxation and families, but instead is geared towards people looking for drinking and partying, and suggested that I go to the St. Regis next time.
5) Not the hotel's fault, but the ocean is full of seaweed, despite the presence of public servants cleaning up the beach daily. On some days, the smell was nasty, and honestly, it's not a great place to swim. On the flip side, the water in the pool was quite cold
6) There are limited options for dinner, as most of the restaurants serve high-end Mexican food. If you don't like spicy food, then you are left with only two places that have ordinary offerings. For instance, the Italian restaurant does not offer pasta. The best places for families are Itzam, Chaya, and Toro (if you are willing to pay the high price for their steakhouse). The wine selection is mediocre and insanely priced (with markups of 6-10 times the retail price, whereas typical restaurants charge 2-3 times the retail price). I was surprised to find that this resort was more expensive than the most exclusive places in Maui, Hawaii.

The Sol resturant.

This Place Has It Dialed In !! Will Go Back !!
I wanted to share our recent experience at the Riveria Maya Edition at Kanai. We arrived on Thanksgiving day and stayed for 5 nights.
First things first, the property, architecture, beach and food were top notch, all 5 stars. I really think resorts like this in Mexico have the culinary scene figured out, as we didn't have a bad meal once. From breakfast to dinner at one of their fine restaurants, the food quality and presentation was 10 out of 10.
Notable staff members and service team that went ABOVE and BEYOND:
At So'ol Restaurant and Beach Club - Ivan for dinner service our first night, really made us welcome.
Drinks at So'ol Bar in the evenings before dinner with both Daniel and JC. Really friendly service, very knowledgable about mezcal and it great getting to know them better.
We spent every day of our 5 day stay at the So'ol Beach Club where the food and service was exceptional. Ricardo, Marco, Jonatin and Ramon really do a wonderful job, made us feel welcome each and every day and were always ready to help.
Soloman - what can I say but WOW?!? He really does a great job hosting and keeping the pool service on point.
Do not sleep on the Lobby Bar either. Exceptional service and attention to detail. We had drinks at the St. Regis next door one night and its really NO COMPARISON to the Lobby Bar at the Edition. The ambience and service at the Edition is so much better!
And last but definitely not least - can we talk about Tiguron at the LUX Tennis Center? We had originally only planned lessons for 1 day but quickly changes that to 3 days after we both had a great lesson from Tiguron. What a great coach and instructor. You really have a gem with him.
I really can't express how pleased we were with our time there and would highly recommend to anyone! We really hope the Edition keeps this up and continues to dial in their craft because they have something special going on there. Cannot wait to go back.

The best of Mexico!
Amazing! The atmosphere was peaceful and pleasant! The rooms and room service were exquisite as was the custom service. They have sweet amenities on the beach; paddle boarding, snorkeling and scuba diving as well. The staff is top notch to cater to any and all requests you have. Yummy birthday lunch
Went to the beach bar SO’OL at the EDITION Kanai for my boyfriend’s birthday lunch and Miguel and Rafael made it very special. We had clams, stone crab, and abalone - all were delicious and fresh. They found out it was his birthday and brought out a surprise dessert - so lovely.

This review is coming from a super stressed out New Yorker. From the second I entered the hotel all staff especially “V” created an environment where my blood pressure dropped to normal levels immediately for the first time. Was a wonderful and therapeutic delight for all the senses. I want to come back every week.

Wow! What a beautiful hotel.
It’s an elegant, rather remote hotel built right inside of a tropical rainforest. There are plants and flowers decorating the floors, walls and ceilings. The beautiful water features surrounding the walkways give this place a magical touch. We absolutely loved it! The service is exceptional. The rooms are pristine, beautifully decorated and comfortable. All of the food there is amazing. We ate at every restaurant, including room service, beachside and poolside service. The dinner/lunch, breakfast and kids menus are different for each location which increases variety when you are staying several days. There is only 1 pool for families but it is huge! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return very soon!

Relaxation Paradise
The Riviera Maya EDITION is an absolutely stunning hotel, offering a tranquil and relaxing environment, perfect for downtime. The property is beautifully designed, with a strong connection to nature that makes it a serene escape. The Superior Suite with ocean views was spacious and lovely, providing a perfect setting to celebrate my partner’s birthday.
However, the hotel is a bit out of the way, and transportation can be challenging. Uber isn’t an option, and taxis are quite overpriced, which limits your mobility a bit during your stay.
Dining at So’ol was a highlight—exceptional food with a delightful fusion of local and traditional flavors. The servers, Henry and Brian, were outstanding—gracious, attentive, and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The beachfront setting, with the soothing sound of waves and ocean breeze, truly elevated the ambiance.
Ki’is was another fantastic experience, with Isaac providing great service and the food being incredibly flavorful. We also dined at Toro at the nearby St. Regis Hotel, where the cuisine and staff were top-notch.
The staff at the EDITION was exceptional—Isabel made sure we had everything we needed, Alex at the front desk was always warm and helpful, and Paco and Jonathon by the pool was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything for a memorable birthday celebration.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Riviera Maya EDITION for anyone seeking a peaceful, beachside retreat where relaxation

Couples getaway
Absolutely loved our stay at The Edition Riviera Maya. The food was genuinely incredible—every meal felt like a highlight. Service was top-notch across the board, with Miguel, Jonathan, and the rest of the team going above and beyond the entire time. The customer service was truly unmatched, and everything at the hotel just worked seamlessly. Can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful property, excellent service.
A beautiful property that feels secluded but is still easily accessible. Our suite was stunning and service was very attentive. Two pools, one adults only and (thankfully) enforced by staff who politely but firmly shifted the kids to the other pool. Food was very solid, if a little unimaginative but breakfast from 7-noon, poolside service 11-5 and 24 hour room service - and excellent bartenders and waitstaff. Absolutely recommend.

Hidden Gem Edition Kanai
This is the most amazing hidden gem resort! A true sanctuary.
The staff are absolutely amazing so friendly and professional.
We especially enjoyed our lunch and afternoon at the beach pool with Raphael. He was superb. I look forward to seeing him and the rest of the wonderful staff all week!

A very special place!
Just returned from a wonderful week long stay at Edition at Kanai!
The employees from the minute we arrived were all warm and welcoming. Marco at So’ol and ‘Magic Mike’ at KI’IS in particular provided memorable five star service.
The hotel, rooms, spa, pool and beach are gorgeous and well maintained. There was plenty of spaces to relax which we did a ton of as well as yoga, paddle boarding, pickle ball and even a mixology session with Magic Mike. We also enjoyed the gym and spa which like the entire property was perfection.
We tried all of the bars and restaurants and were completely satisfied on all occasions.
We definitely hope to visit this very special place again.

Terrible experience in Edition!
The staff were very rude; our personal belongings were left unattended by the housekeeping staff, and the hotel did not provide us with a satisfactory explanation. And Our room wasn't cleaned properly because our dog accidentally ate a pink substance inside, but we don't know what it is!

Great beach cabana experience
Spent four days at the Edition at Kanai. Highly recommend renting the pier and beach cabanas. Great way to enjoy the beach. The staff were awesome. Paco and Ramon dodged wind and rain to make our stay enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Beach Getaway on point!
Had a lovely Thanksgiving getaway with friends at Edition and couldn’t have been more well cared for! All the staff were warm and welcoming, but Paco and Ramon really made our trip. They took care of us so well on the beach! Would return just to hang with them again!

Great stay
The ambience is great, quiet and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. Rooms are modern and nicely decorated and the pool is beautiful. But the highlight was the service and the food at the different restaurants. While Kiis was underwhelming, Kitchen and Sool were exceptional and so was the service from all the team there.

Death by a thousand paper cuts
Gorgeous Property, But Completely Undone by Sloppy Service
I’m currently staying at The Riviera Maya Edition in room 2009, and while the setting is stunning and the staff are warm and well-intentioned, the experience has been marred by a consistent lack of follow-through and attention to detail.
Let me be clear: none of the issues on their own are catastrophic. But the cumulative effect is frustrating, especially for a property charging over $1,100 USD per night.
We tried to book dinner at Chaya more than two weeks in advance. I had to follow up five times via email and twice by phone from New York to finally get a reservation—only to receive a 5:30 PM slot instead of the 7:00 PM I originally requested. It took my persistence to get even that. I’m happy to forward the emails to anyone who’s curious.
Next: the air conditioning in the room wasn’t working. Nor was the mini fridge. I reported both via the Edition app, was told it was “handled,” but nothing happened until I escalated and demanded to speak to a manager.
Then came the hair dryer. Broken. Again, a small thing. But you start to see the pattern.
This morning, I asked the concierge to move our too-early 5:30 PM dinner to 6:30 PM. No answer. Guest services said they’d call me back. They didn’t. I had to follow up again, only to be told that it couldn’t be changed and that we only had a 5:30 PM reservation because the hotel didn’t secure the time I asked for two weeks ago.
I work in luxury branding and public relations. My travel partner is former Condé Nast. We would never recommend this Edition to friends, clients, or editorial colleagues.
This is not a hit piece, this is the most measured version of my feedback.
A shame, really. Beautiful bones. Beautiful people. But a give me a break get it together and have a team meeting already.

Beautiful resort, service all around was excellent especially at the So’ol beach club. Ricardo and Jonathan were wonderful and made my birthday so special. They were attentive, fun, special touches like candles, glasses of champagne. We even showed up when we knew they were on shift.

Bryan and Rafael are the best. We had a great stay. The sool restaurant is amazing. We tried the octopus, ceviche, abalone which are all super fresh. We also got welcome “fake abalone” shots. Highly recommend.

We had the most incredible stay at The Edition Hotel! Their hospitality was unmatched, truly some of the best we’ve ever experienced. The entire team was so accommodating, attentive, and kind, making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived.
A huge shout-out to Carlos at the beach area. He went above and beyond every single day, always checking in, helping us get settled, and making sure we had everything we needed. He made our beach days absolutely perfect.
And Julio, the chef, deserves all the praise. Not only was the food amazing, but he surprised us with complimentary ice cream, which was so nice for the kids. His attention to detail truly stood out.
We left feeling so cared for and just such a great vibe. This was hands down one of our best hotel experiences, and we can’t wait to come back! ✨????????

Simply spectacular!
Yes, the Edition is a stunning, visually gorgeous feast of attention to detail delights. The location is eco friendly, private & take-your-breath-away beautiful. This is a high-end pamper that is worth every penny. The food! Culinary treats at every turn! Everything about this stay was fabulous - BUT the one thing that made this hotel different & above any I have experienced, is the people who make the Edition run. From the concierge & front desk to the gardeners, the house keepers, the waiters & waitresses - these people that the management has hired are the soul of this extraordinary establishment.

We had an amazing experience! The food was 10/10. The service we received was better than we could’ve hoped for. We were taken care of by Rafael, Israel, and Miguel and they were extremely attentive and provide excellent service. We would recommend this place! Atmosphere was also incredible.
