Water went out for many hours so could not shower or flush the toilet.
The door did not have a dead bolt or any other secondary lock so a chair was used to secure it at night.
The bed was well just awful, it was only the mattress box spring and was very uncomfortable.

You had to use a key to exit the property, which makes no sense. On our last night, the entire hotel had no water and there was no communication, nobody answered the phone or even pretended like they cared!

Room and bed were comfortable. Surprisingly quiet for the city, we were expecting much more noise. Breakfast was simple yogurt granola fruit and toast. We thought we would, but never used the pool because it was shady and cold. But very close to the beach and restaurants, even tried the restaurant, Kitty Cat, which I highly recommend! Roof top was enjoyable with a little view of the ocean. Place is a little dated but we assumed this. Was perfectly comfortable and affordable for our needs.

This hotel was included with my airfare. It was out dated and there were roaches in the bathroom. I enjoyed begging one block to the beach . You also use a regular old fashion key to enter and exit the building and to access your room. Made me nervous to have to carry a keychain with multiple keys.

Ok....so you need to know that a 3 star hotel in Mexico is really a 2 or 1 star hotel. The location for this tiny but pleasant enough place is great. Really walkable to everything so thats good. The place is certainly very clean with then mopping down the place with "Fabuloso" every day. I could do without the sweeping at 8:30 rather when people are trying to have a piece of toast in the courtyard. To that point...the rooms come with a continental breakfast..... really just coffee/tea juice and toast...and a bit of fruit.... pleasant enough but very bare bones. We got through VIP status a "full breakfast " which means the pleasant lady behind the counter will scramble or fry up two eggs for you.....thats it. Verrrry simple. Staff are very nice even if there is a language barrier. Denise was very communicative. Dont expect to be able to print out anything if doing work or whatever. There are two dogs in the courtyard at all times lazing around....and while we love dogs....they will bark at certain times and be a bother....or want to get petted and rub their face against your clean pressed shorts! Fun. Not. So not a terrible place and not a great place even if the bed was hard as a rock....and ive staying in PV more than 30 times to know what a hard bed is BUT the tipping point to why we would never book this place is the noise! Yes Vallarta is noisy...sometimes its ok but Blondies across the street will blast music until 3 am. So not cool. Bad. Unbearable.

The property was colorful from the front door. The check in process was easy. The dogs that live on the property are sweet and welcoming.
The room was very nice and stylish with accents and had everything needed for a wonderful stay.
The drawbacks include the pool appearing to need a little love replacing some tile, cleaning leaves that are plentiful out of the water. The pool also was cold and would do nice with some heating as the area is shaded and receieves very little direct sunlight.
The only drawback was the room balcony was unable to be utilized at night as it was directly under a tree that had alot of bat activity including pooping. If had known would have requested another room not directly under tree.
I would stay again.

Poorly Maintained
Our room (103) was directly above the front gate, which was heavy and made a loud bang whenever people opened and closed it. The property was not well maintained, with our bathroom light flickering and the chairs in the common areas dirty. The pool had leaves in it which weren't removed. However, the two dogs on the property were friendly.

Very close to all the PV activities and good eateries. Pool was less than inviting and was simply ignored by guests as it was always covered in garden leaves/dust. Plus resident dogs using around poolside as their WC further discouraged our use of it. Staff were very friendly.

Charming small hotel with local color
Beautiful small property with a very Mexican ambiance. There are dogs on the property which at times bark very loudly but are older and harmless. The public areas could benefit from more frequent and better cleaning. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel, but the hotel has two dogs they seem to lock in in the reception area when the staff leaves at 5pm. The dogs will keep barking frequently during the whole night.
They moved me to a room further away from the dogs, but it did no difference.

I really liked the place and would have given it a 5-star overall rating, but I believe there are a few areas that can be improved:
a) The breakfast options could be more varied.
b) The dog smell during the later hours of the day should be monitored.
c) The AC in my room was not cooling properly; it probably needs freon.

Our stay was very comfortable and quiet even though we were in a neighborhood of a lot of nightlife, our room was very comfortable, beautiful, clean and functional, All very friendly and helpful staff and the best of all the security couple at the hotel. They are adorable! And of course I recommend this hotel because it is just one block from the beach.

Loved the location and the feel of the hotel. Very colorful and relaxing feel. The only part that I was not a fan of was the restroom having a nonoperational window. All of the heat and humidity would enter the restroom.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying there and definitely gonna come back. They were very welcoming, and I felt very secure there with the lock gate. Only the people that are staying there can get in and I love the little white dog always greeted us. I love the convenience of everything the beaches right there. The stores are right there. The restaurants are right there. We will be back!!

The property itself and the rooms are a bit dated , broken lights peeling paint, hideous bathroom and the internet /tv situation was so bad I almost went to another hotel . The hotel itself is in a great location and proximity to nice restaurants and the beach is a block away .

Adorable villa style boutique hotel. A definite change from AI. Great location. Great staff. The dogs on site (Pinto and Pardo) are absolutely sweet. Friendly no frills type of place that puts you smack in the middle of everything and just a few steps to the beach. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and affordable. Definitely on my recommendation list.

We loved our Penthouse on the 3rd floor. It had a nice terrace looking over the beach that you share with 2 other units. The AC worked well and so did the Internet. It’s in a great location and super cute and clean. The dogs didn’t bother either.
The only complaint is that Orbitz said as a Gold Member I would receive a Free FULL breakfast not continental. I took a screenshot and showed the front desk. She had no idea what I was talking about and there was no follow up. It ended up working out because the woman serving breakfast made us eggs free of cost without hesitation even though she had not heard of Orbitz’ promotion either.
We would stay there again overall great service and experience!

This is a cute little hotel in a great location and we loved the two dogs that seem to live at the property. However, if you do not enjoy dogs or occasional barking you may need to rethink staying here. The rooms were clean and the staff were quiet nice but the rest of the property needs some clean up and the pool is extremely cold and doesnt get much sun. The breakfast was very minimal as well. In all in was a nice stay but we felt overprices for what you were getting.

I want to start by saying that the staff was excellent, friendly and hotel is beautiful.
What really turned my sister and I off was the lack of cleanliness of the property as a whole.
Right away we noticed that no guests were using the common areas or the pool. Upon inspection, we noticed bugs, dirt, dust and dog hair everywhere. They have 2 very friendly dogs on the property, but it is clear that they have no boundaries. Our personal rooms were clean enough, though.
Another huge bummer for us was the noise. Yes, is perfectly located in terms of getting around but the hotel and our rooms were right above a bar and a restaurant that loved to play their music horrifically loud. Really, insanely loud. My sister and I both had to buy earplugs and sleeping pills just to finally get some sleep.
Over all, I give it 3 stars ????
Its great for the price, it has potential and again, the staff was great.

Photos are of rooms that are in much better state of repair and cleanliness than the one we stayed in. Our blinds were broken, light fixtures were bare bulbs. Entire room smelled of sewer creeping up through shower drain. Staff are only available during a relatively narrow window and don't seem to care much about guest experience. Apple maps will send you to a location a considerable distance from the hotel.

Pro: good location. Cons: noisy night club late into the night, not much of a breakfast, a pool no one wanted to use, seating outside was covered in dog hair, dog paw prints, or bird poop. Bathroom was moldy and damp. Very expensive for what it was.

We stayed 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to everything the Romantic Zone has to offer and the beach. No dedicated area on the beach for guests but we reserved some chairs at nearby beachfront restaurants which worked out great.
We are not dog owners but pet lovers so we knew what to expect before we arrived. Staff did a good job addressing any deposits or withdrawals the two resident dogs left behind. So expected some dog behaviours at this hotel. Friendly staff and Samantha was a wonderful host at the front desk and was quick to help us as needed. Our first floor room was comfortable and clean and the AC worked great. Would definitely stay again.

Viva Villa Mercedes!
Villa Mercedes was great! Friendly service and daily continental breakfast. Not much hustle and bustle there for busy season, and there were some dogs that hung out on the property, which was awesome! Fantastic location, a block from the beach and above a convenience store and my favorite little restaurant in PV, 116 Pulpito. Walking distance to all night life. Only downside is that drinking water was not provided in the room, but being above a store it wasn't too much of a hassle. I'd definitely stay again!

Just visited this property. Denise was an absolute star along with all the staff. They were very friendly and kind. Property overall is good it’s authentic to Puerto Vallarta. The location is fantastic. The only real complaint was the bed was very hard. We had 2 double beds and both were very hard and that was my only issue. I would definitely rebook on my next vacation.

This is a decent family type of small hotel. But it def doesn’t deserve 8/9 out of 10. The facilities were suboptimal in terms of comfort, and it’s in a pretty noisy area. A big pro is its close to everything. Two dogs on site - one is super nice and cute, the other barks at everyone :(

Relaxed PV stay.
We traveled to Puerto Vallarta as a last minute vacation. Wanting to stay in the downtown area, we chose Vila Mercedes Petit because it looked like a quiet boutique property.
The property was clean and comfortable. The staff was professional and addressed all our needs.
Unfortunately, our 2nd story room was above a rather loud bar whose music often played late into the night. Obviously this is not within the control we of the property but if you do choose to book this hotel be aware that the nightlife is vibrant.

Over all the property is good and you can not beat the location. I would not recommend staying on the main floor, specially if your wall shares with the OXXO convenience store on the corner across from Blondies. For some reason you hear every crash boom bang.
Staff and host are friendly. However those dogs are a problem. They are cooped up from 5 pm to the next morning around 9 am every day. They bark with every street noise and every call that comes in after hours. They also need to have baths and should not be lying all over the furniture meant for people.

Stayed in a nice room with a king size bed. Was able to extend my stay by one day on the day that I was originally scheduled to depart. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Love the two house dogs that wander around the property. Will definitely return in the future!

If you need a place in the romantic zone to set up a home base for exploring, look no further! The AC worked great and so did the WiFi - we were able to stream American football all day and never had an issue! The gate to the hotel stays locked at all times for security, you enter using either a key or a code. I loved that there were rescue dogs on site, one of them is very sweet and the other takes his job as head security officer very seriously, which I greatly appreciated. :) The lady who manages the front desk is very kind and professional.
The downside is that the pool is pretty much unusable - there is an old rusty pump that seems to stay mostly off but occasionally circulates the water in a half hearted fashion. This was a deal breaker for my vacation needs, but if you don't care about having a nice pool to relax by and take a dip in then disregard this part.
There's a new Cuban restaurant a block or so up Amapas called Que Bola - definitely give them a try! Excellent food and service, reasonable prices, and open air dining with great views.

We had a great time staying at Villa Mercedes. They have the best location you can possibly ask for. Our Suite room was spacious, bright, clean, comfortable and full of charm. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a unique place. The breakfast was simple but a healthy way to start the day.

The location is good and the staff is friendly too. But the hotel needs a lot of work done and much more cleaning, There is a good size pool to refresh yourself, but be aware tha the nice owner lady keeps her two dogs on the premises, and the smell of the dogs is all over the entertainment area.

My room was really nice. I received a sweet with a dining area, kitchen appliances, couch and TV along with a bedroom area. It was clean. The staff was friendly. I didn't use the swimming pool but that was a nice amenity to have. I only had breakfast once because the other days I left before 9:00 a.m., but it was a good breakfast with fruit and bread. The one complaint that I had is that the owners have a dog that lives on property. Out of my four nights, three of them it woke me up two or three times during the night by barking. The fourth night it was waking me up two or three times an hour barking. I barely slept that fourth night that is the main reason I probably would not stay here again.

My sisters and I stayed at this hotel for a week. Our experience was amazing. As 3 younger women it made us feel extremely safe. You need a code or key to enter the gate into the rooms and they have 2 sweet dogs who are the security and are very good at their job. The hotel was very quiet and the pool was never too busy or crowded. Breakfast consists of toast and fruit and felt very homey. The staff is extremely friendly, each time we got back into our food our room were spotless and felt so good after a long hot day in Puerto Vallarta. A lot of places are walking distance, plenty of food places, bars with happy hour, Malecon etc. We will definitely be back!!

Great Small Hotel in Amazing Location!!
I stayed 3 nights. I have stayed here before. I come to PV almost every month. Great small hotel in my favorite area of PV. Close to the gay beach clubs
, bars/clubs and amazing restaurants and cafe. I do not eat much for breakfast so the free breakfast was perfect. Whole wheat toast and fresh fruit. They have cereal and some other items too. The WiFi was amazing!! I did 2 hour zoom meetings with no issues.I have stayed at most of the hotels in the area and the WiFi is not strong enough for zoom. Staff was amazing!! Room was perfectly well equipped and had English Tv channels like CNN etc. also the room had a fridge. Great low price too! Will definitely be back!!!????????????????
